All of September is basically Halloween Eve, so, while I like you spooky all year ‘round, it’s socially acceptable to be spooky in public now. And that means that Wiscoween has officially begun. September and October are full of creepy things to do, from haunted houses and horror film festivals to ghost walks and haunted history.
But first, I have an announcement:
This morning I soft-launched the Wisconsin Frights premium membership on Patreon (I’m still trying to think of a good name for it) so you can preview it and tell me what you think.
Let me tell you a bit more about it.
Wisconsin Frights is 10 years old this Halloween season. It’s not my oldest site, but that’s a long time to do something this costly pretty much out of love for the subject matter. There are a lot of projects I’ve been hoping to bring to you for years that there really just is never a budget for, like:
Books
Video series
Podcast
Premium content from top Wisconsin researchers and creators
Printed zines exploring various facets of weird Wisconsin history, lore, travel, etc.
My hope is that by creating a premium community option offering cool exclusive perks, we can work together to make those things happen.
There’s even a free option, so you can start following along and get a feel for it.
So check it out right here and tell me what you think, what you’d like to see, or any other thoughts you might have.
Spooky September Happenings
Be sure to explore the 2024 Halloween Guide to find the best haunted houses, ghost walks, and other unique events happening this spooky season. I’ll be working on updating haunt listings and adding more events throughout the month.
