October, 1985. Elvira is the horror host with the most. You’re watching Movie Macabre on Milwaukee station TV24. But…that’s not Elvira. That’s 22-year-old UWM student Cyndy Peterson (no relation to Cassandra Peterson) who won the Elvira look-alike contest) vamping it up with all the attitude you’d expect from the Mistress of the Dark.
Out of 75 entries, Cyndy easily came out on top with an overwhelming number of viewers calling in to vote for her.
The grand prize: A new RCA Colortrak 13″ television and multiple appearances as Elvira.
Here are some clips of Cyndy in a Partyland commercial promoting her appearance at the store, along with a TV24 birthday celebration featuring a Phantom of the Opera marathon.
Cyndy told UWM Post she made the decision to enter the content because “it was a crazy diversion. And crazy diversions are the most pleasurable diversions in life.”

Gein in London
This Ed Gein display is part of the Serial Killer exhibition that just opened in London. The exhibit includes many real artifacts related to the world’s most deviant murderers. But, of course, none of Gein’s actual creations will be seen here, because they’re buried here.
